The final whistle blows and Portugal are joyous as they can now afford not to worry about the outcome of their final group game against South Korea. Meanwhile, the Uruguay team looks distraught as the battle to qualify for the Round of 16 now looks immense. The South American side now sit bottom of the group and will require a win to get through but they will also require a favourable goal difference, something they currently lack.

Fernandes comes close again! This time the mercurial midfielder is denied by the post after his low shot zips past the keeper but into the frame of the goal.

Portugal attack and the ball is whipped to the back post for Bruno Fernandes who connects strongly with a volley but it's saved by the Uruguay keeper. That could have been his hattrick right there.
